The goals for these posts: Behind the Scenes

February 15, 2012

Modifications have been made to the RSS feed for the Current Missions and their method of rotating the most recent posted to the top of the list.

Current missions have the category of “Current Missions.”

To help facilitate improved removal from the RSS feed for Current Missions, some tweaks in the category assignments.  Hopefully this will significantly decrease confusion in that “Current Missions” will not include past missions.

Past missions will be moved to the Category of “Mission Archives” and you can find these in one of two methods:

Name Differences:

Did you know that Connecticut Patriot Guard is Incorporated?  Yes, it is true, Connecticut Patriot Guard is incorporated.

What does it mean to be incorporated?

To form a legal corporation is means to form an association of individuals, created by law or under authority of law, having a continuous existence independent of the existences of its members, and powers and liabilities distinct from those of its members.

Connecticut Patriot Guard Riders is a non-profit IRS 501(c)3 Tax Exempt corporation.

To be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, an organization must be organized and operated exclusively for exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3), and none of its earnings may inure to any private shareholder or individual.

Organizations described in section 501(c)(3) are commonly referred to as charitable organizations and are eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions.

What does all of this mean?  The legal name of Connecticut Patriot Guard is Patriot Guard Riders of CT, Inc.

Based on all of this, although, we are not different than we were yesterday. We had to change the name of our website to be consistent with our legal name – our legal incorporated name and our 501 (c)(3) tax-deductible name.  Changes have been made throughout the site to reflect our legal name as well.
