Patriot Guard and Associates:
I hope this note finds you all doing well, riding safely and had a great holiday weekend!
A few big and fun events coming our way last two Sundays in July that we need your attention on for registering and a RSVP so I wanted to make sure you have them on your radar. And who doesn’t like a great ride supporting our friends at Fidelco and then a PGR picnic with Mad Mike Freedman presenting PGR with a whopping check?
Fidelco Ride for Independence and Honor and Remember Flag presentation, Sunday July 20th
We are very excited to have been asked to participate in a special Honor and Remember Flag presentation at the opening ceremony for the Fidelco Ride for Independence.
The mother of Army Sgt Benjamin L Gilman will be presented with an Honor and Remember Flag. Sgt Gilman was 28, from Meriden Conn.; assigned to 41st Engineer Battalion, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.; killed Jan. 29, 2004, when a weapons cache exploded in Ghazni, Afghanistan
Heroes will again be honored at the annual Ride for Independence to benefit the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation in Bloomfield on Sunday, July 20th. This family-friendly motorcycle fundraiser celebrates the freedom and independence that Fidelco Guide Dogs bring to men and women who are blind across North America, especially blinded military personnel.
The 2014 Ride for Independence Grand Marshal is a blinded military hero and Fidelco client, Staff Sergeant Michael Malarsie, USAF (Ret). Malarsie was blinded in an IED attack while serving in Afghanistan in 2010. One year later, with his Fidelco Guide Dog “Xxon” leading the way, Michael returned to work as the only blind airman on active duty in the Air Force.
Lot’s of food, fun and we will be selling PGR apparel and items. If you would like to participate in the ride or have lunch, you will need to register online or the day of. To register online, please go to: www.fidelco.org to register.
PGR picnic Sunday July 27th, 1200hrs to 1700hrs
It is time for our 2nd Annual CT Patriot Guard Picnic. To be held at the Portland Fire Co2 Recreation Area, Indian Hill Av. Portland. This is a pot luck picnic so everyone bring a favorite dish or dessert.
For a $ 10.00 per person donation to cover the cost of the facility and Burgers, Hot Dogs, Rolls and soda/water will be provided. Other beverages are BYOB.
We will also have a special check presentation to PGR of CT from our own Sr Ride Captain Mad Mike Freedman from the proceeds of the Chili Cook off.
Please Email Skip at firstname.lastname@example.org to let me know how many people and what you are bringing.
This picnic is meant to be a “Stand Down” day for us to just sit and chat and decompress for a bit. Dress is summer whatever so shorts, jeans, t-shirts are all accepted.
I ask that when you are arriving and departing that those with loud pipes go easy on the throttle as to not annoy the neighbors and disturb the horses next door. Please feel free to ride in or bring a cage. For those using GPS please use an address of 74 Indian Hill Av and continue to the end of the street through the gate. For those coming from the Glastonbury/East Hartford area via RT 2 and RT 17, Rt 17a that passes the Fairgrounds is closed and a detour is in place.
Please email Skip no later than JULY 20 so we can get a count for food. email@example.com
