Patriot Guard and associates,

Sadly we are called to stand for Col. Alvin Ridgway who served our country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corp, may he rest in peace.

Col. Ridgway served 26 years of active and reserve duties in the United States Marine Corp. He served in the Korean War with the 1st Marine Division commanding a mobile rocket unit, receiving the Purple Heart. Col. Ridgway was the Commanding Officer in the reserves in both West Palm Beach and Miami, FL. Some of his awards include a Navy Unit Commendation, a Korean Service Medal with 2 stars, the Presidential Unit Citation and most recently the Connecticut Active Duty War Service Medal.

Al was dedicated to all veterans throughout the region encouraging unity and a sense of honor for the brave service men, women and their families; quick to support organizations like VFW (Post 5446 Plainfield, Post 10284 Moosup) and American Legion Post 91. He based his State Senate run on the platform of Veteran legislation and recognition. Chief Ridgway also served the Miami Beach Fire Department for 25 years.
