Sadly we are called to stand for Phillip Schiller who served our country honorably in the U.S. Army and was Killed In action (KIA) while serving in Afghanistan on April 11th, may he rest in peace.Â
Spc. Philip C.S. Schiller, 21, died of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire. Â He enlisted in the Army in June 2010 and attended Army Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He arrived at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in November 2010, and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team. The 3rd Stryker Brigade deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in December.
His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Spc. Schiller, a native of CT, had recently relocated and his funeral was held in TX not long after his death. This will be a CT Honor Mission with Military Honors and his family in attendance.
We will provide a Flag Line for this CT Hero Killed In Action.
 State Captain Gregg Barratt will be RCIC and flags will be on site.

Off Route 44: take Route 318 in Barkhamsted. Go across the steel bridge and take an immediate left onto East River Road. The recreation area is approximately 1 mile up on the left.
