We have been asked by the parents of Dustin Doyon, US Navy, KIA 8/21/17, to stand a flag line at the opening ceremony of his memorial road race.

Dustin Louis Doyon, USN, 26, of Suffield, died on August 21, 2017, due to injuries sustained in a collision while serving aboard the USS John S. McCain (DDG-56) with the Navy’s 7th Fleet in Asian waters off the coast of Singapore.

We will provide a Flag Line at the opening ceremony which starts at 0900hrs.

Walter joined the Silent Service of the Submarines, serving on both the USS Bluegill and USS Bream, becoming an ETN2 – a Nuclear-trained Electronics Technician Second Class and received the Good Conduct Medal.

We will provide a Flag Line at the church, an escort to the cemetery, and a Flag Line at the cemetery.

Sadly, we are called to stand for Calvin Bunnell, U.S. Navy/Firefighter.

Calvin proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as a radar and signalman on two aircraft the USS Roosevelt CV-42 and the USS JFK CV-67 where he was the plank owner of the Kennedy. Calvin was a dedicated member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Middletown Post, as well as American Legion Post 75 in Middletown, where he served as District Commander of Middlesex County.

He was a committed volunteer firefighter with the North Farms Volunteer Fire Department in Wallingford. He also graduated with Connecticut’s inaugural class of paramedics and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

We will provide a Flag Line at the cemetery.

We are called to stand a Flag Line at an Honor and Remember Flag presentation to a Gold Star Mother.

Melissa Steinhilper, the mother of Hayen Charles Steinhilper,  who was currently serving with the US Navy as a member of SEAL Team 10 as Operations Specialist Second Class, will receive the Flag.  Hayden tragically passed away on October 16^th, 2023 while on Active Duty.

Hayden joined the US NAVY and was excited for this new chapter in his life. Following his initial training, he was assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln where he would spend the next five years working as an Operations Specialist. While on the ship, Hayden participated in two long deployments, rapidly increased his rank, traveled to many countries, and built meaningful and valuable friendships. In active service, he sacrificed holidays, events, and time with those who love him at home. While he was missed, one could only remain in gratitude as he was living the journey of his choice.

We will provide a Flag Line at the ceremony which will be about 15 minutes long.
