We have been asked by the organizers of the Plainfield Memorial Day Parade committee to attend the parade and provide a Flag Line at the ceremony.

This year they will honor Cindy M. Beaudoin, US Army, (35 years since her death) Date of death: 28 Feb 1991 (age 19), Operation Desert Storm

We are Honored to have been invited by Honor Flight CT to participate in the escort, ceremony, and return for Veterans from WWII, Korea and Vietnam who are being taken to Washington DC to visit their respective monuments, many for their first time.

 

A flagged/PGR identified vehicle escort will start at Windsor Locks High School to bring the Veterans to the Airport for the pre-departure ceremony. Stage time is 0630 hrs.

 

RC Greg Young (860-227-7525) will be RCIC for the Escort stage.

 

Morning airport stage will include a Flag Line for the arriving Veterans as they prepare for departure. A pre-departure ceremony will be held at the  baggage claim area lower level door #5/6. Stage time is 0645am

 

RC Greg Karal (860-494-3758) will be RCIC for the airport stage with flags on site.

 

EVENING RETURN EVENT

 

Evening return airport stage will include a Flag Line for the return of the Veterans.  A flagged vehicle escort has been requested from the Airport to the high school if available. Evening stage is at 2200hrs at UPPER LEVEL.

Norman served in the US Navy from 1964-1968 as a Control Room Man aboard the USS San Marcos (LSD_25).  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

We will stand a Flag Line at the cemetery.

We are honored to have been invited to lead the Tolland Memorial Day parade on Sunday May 25th.

 

Because we are leading and need to get set up in the front early, it is imperative you arrive by the 1130hrs stage time and we are in the “blue” stage area.  The parade steps off at 1300hrs and we will stand a Flag Line at the post parade ceremony.

 

This is a rain or shine event and all motorcycles and flagged vehicles (cages) are welcome to participate.

Sadly, we have been requested to stand a Flag Line for one of our own PGR members, Kevin Eugene O’Day, CPO, US Navy.

 

Kevin proudly served his country in the United States Navy for over 22 years as a Nuclear Propulsion Plant Operator, retiring as Chief Petty Officer. He served on the USS L.Y. Spear (AS-36), USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69), USS Dallas (SSN-700), and the USS Henry M. Jackson (SSBN-730). He received numerous commendations throughout his naval career.

 

We will stand a Flag Line at the cemetery, then move to Jewett City VFW, stand a Flag Line for entrance of family and friends to Kevin’s Celebration of Life.

 

SC Gregg Barratt will be RCIC and have flags on site.

Hello All…..   The time is upon us again to Say the Names of our Fallen Veterans and place a Wreath at their Final Resting Place.  Honor, Remember and Teach..

Wreaths will be delivered directly to the State Veterans Cemetery 317 Bow La in Middletown on Thursday and Friday 12/15 &12/16/2022.  The trucks are  scheduled to arrive around 10am. 2 truckloads will not be on pallets as in years past.
We are looking for assistance at the cemetery on Thursday morning at 10 am to assist in unloading the boxes.  These boxes will be distributed throughout the cemetery for placement on Saturday. Any assistance on Thursday and Friday would be appreciated.
On Saturday, The Middletown cemetery will be closed to vehicle traffic with parking on the CVH property across the street as well as the Eastern Drive Commuter lot with shuttle buses transporting to and from the cemetery starting at 9:30am. Signs will be posted to assist in parking.
The Ceremony will take place at 12 noon so please plan on arriving at the cemetery around 1030am.
We will Stand a Flag Line for the Ceremonies at both Middletown and Rocky Hill.
RC Jenn Hauser (203-627-7604) will be RCIC at CT State Veterans Cemetery 317 Bow Lane. Middletown.
RC Linda Liversidge-Daley (203-915-8259) will be RCIC at Col Raymond F. Gates Cemetery 392 West St in Rocky Hill.
Staging for both locations will be at 1030am
Any RC’s that have flags are requested to bring them to whichever event they attend.
Members are requested to choose whichever site they would want to attend.  More help will be needed at the Rocky Hill site.
Members are reminded that Personal Weapons are not permitted on State Property.
