Special Mission Returning Soldiers Exhibit, New London, CT June 16th

*** Special Mission***
Returning Soldiers Exhibit
New London, CT.
SAT June 16th 1700hrs

Patriot Guard and associates,

We are very pleased to have been invited by The TSETSE Gallery to participate in a very special Veterans Art Exhibit in New London.

This gallery has been running a program with teens and recently returning soldiers in CT and RI where a group of teens met with a group of soldiers. The soldiers told their stories on what it was like to return home after being serving in the overseas. The teens then came back with proposals on works of art that would tell the soldiers stories. The soldiers decided for each teen which of their ideas they wanted them to make. The teens then went off, working with thier our artists, to make that piece.

After the better part of a year, they have numerous works of art that they are showcasing at an exhibition during New London art night where all the galleries stay open. This will bring great attention to the issues returning soldiers face after serving their country.

We will stand a flag line during the beginning of this event from 1700hrs to 1900hrs and they are expecting many Veterans to attend this event.

Flag Captain Don Camden will be acting RCIC and will have flags on site.

April 28 & April 29, 2012 New England Regional Chili Cook Off

Our main annual fund raiser for Patriot Guard of Connecticut that enables us to help the military community, veterans and first responders of Connecticut is the annual New England Regional Chili Cook Off [sanctioned by The International Chili Society (ICS) is a non-profit organization which benefits charities or non-profit organizations] held in Somers, Connecticut. The New England Regional Chili Cook Off is the largest ICS sanctioned chili cook off in New England.

This cook off location:
Pleasant View
452 South Road
Somers, Connecticut

The New England Regional Chili Cook Off had a long history in Somers, Connecticut in the 1980’s and 1990’s. The event then was held in Woburn, Massachusetts in recent years before returning to its home in Somers, Connecticut in 2006. Sanctioned and governed by the International Chili Society.

The New England Regional Chili Cook Off is very proud that the event benefits the Somers (Connecticut) Fire Department and Patriot Guard Riders of Connecticut and the outstanding work that they do in our community.

In the past four years the New England Regional Chili Cook Off has had a very profitable philanthropic fundraiser, in addition to collecting approximately 7 tons of canned goods for local non profit organizations. The American Red Cross also conducts a blood drive.

Because the The New England Regional Chili Cook Off is our main annual fund raiser for Patriot Guard of Connecticut it is our commitment to provide as much support as possible to make this event a success.

We will be publishing news and updates here: https://www.ctpatriotguard.org/category/afrnews

Volunteers needed for Chili Cook off 4/28/12-4/29/2012

Folks we need your help! We are desperately low on volunteers for our Chili cook off coming up Saturday and Sunday, April 28th and 29th.

This is our ONLY fund raiser that helps us to help our Veterans and 1st Responders and we cannot do this without your help.

We need only four hours of your time or more if you can! Besides helping at the event, you get to enjoy an absolutely terrific day of food, music, vendors and never a dull moment with our own Mad Mike leading the way. It is also a great time to bring a significant other, friends and family to either help or simply enjoy the outstanding food and entertainment.

Please contact Sr Ride Captain Kevin Wakely with what shift you can help out with: chili.volunteers@gmail.com

Sat and Sunday shifts:

7-11am

10am-2pm

1pm-5pm

All Day

We also could use some help on Friday and you can contact Kevin for those hours needed.

If you have an interest in helping with the actual Chili cook-off, please contact Mad Mike at Madmike@chilict.com

I would certainly appreciate any help you can provide!
