CHANGES TO THE LEADERSHIP OF CT PATRIOT GUARD RIDERS

Patriot Guard and Associates,

I am sending out this statewide message to announce changes to our leadership that will help improve our performance and communication among our membership.

First, as you all know, Assistant State Captain Jack Casey wears many hats within CT and all of New England. He spends an extraordinary amount of time and miles in his support of Veterans throughout the whole area, working with the VA, and many VSOâ€™s (Veteran Service Organizations). In order to give him some breathing room, I am appointing a second Assistant State Captain to keep me on my toes and ensure we keep meeting our obligation to provide the coverage needed for our Veterans, our Troops and First Responders. I introduce Skip Petras as our new Assistant State Captain. He is a dynamic leader and will be a fantastic addition to our team.

Second, we have been without a leader for our HOTH (Help on the Home Front), and MIAP (Missing in America Project) programs. I am happy to say Mark A. Brundage, Sr has volunteered to take on this difficult role. I know he is extremely enthusiastic to help in the programs, and has the energy to follow through with whatever is needed. He is as dedicated as Jack in honoring our Veterans and I welcome him to the team.

Please welcome these two members to our Leadership Team and give them the support you have showed in the past.

Sadly, we have been requested to Stand a Flag Line for the interment of Lawrence C. Kuehn,

Tech 4, U.S. Army, who served Honorably from 1942 to 1946. He was awarded the European-AfricanÂ Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct MedalÂ and the World War II Victory Medal.

Senior Ride Captain Skip Petras will be RCIC and Flags will be on Site. This Mission is for interment only.

MESSAGE FROM STATE CAPTAIN The Annual NERCC

Patriot Guard and Associates,

The Annual NERCC, which is our largest source of operating funds, is scheduled forÂ 30 April 2016Â in Somers, CT. This event is organized by our very own Ride Captain, Mike Freedman. As you all know, this requires a lot of help on the part of the CTPGR to set up and run. I hope we can count on those who helped in the past to again give us a hand.

We need someone to act as coordinator for the set up crew.Â This requires an early start in the morning, as well as people to help with the set up. Additionally, we need people throughout the day to man (or woman) the registration tables, and anything else that comes.

The Somers Fire Dept., also a beneficiary of this fundraiser, already has volunteers lined up. So letâ€™s get on board and make this another rip roaring success.

Â Veterans from Rocky Hill, Newington and West Haven VA Facilities as well as manyÂ Service Organizations will be in attendance.

We have been invited to stand a Flag Line at the 71^st Anniversary of the Iwo Jima Flag Raising which took place during WWII. The Ceremony will take place at 1015 hrs, marking the time the Flag was raised over Mount Suribachi, and will include a Wreath Laying, rifle salute and the playing of Taps.

We will stand a Flag Line prior to the Ceremony and during the Honor Presentation.

We have been invited to participate in a Viet Nam Appreciation Night and Honor and Remember Flag Presentation to the family of a Viet Nam Veteran who was Killed In Action. We will stand a Flag Line during the ceremony in honor of this hero.

Assistant State Captain Jack Casey will be RCIC and have Flags on site.

The ceremony will take place at half time in the basketball game. Parking is limited so we will stage early to find close parking.

This event will benefit the Somers Fire Department Assistant Chief Rick McDonald and Abigail, a 5 year old from the area, in their battle against cancer. Admission is $7.00, kids under 6 and over 70 are FREE!

This vehicle is being donated to his company, Driver Â Rehabilitation Center of Excellence, LLC, which offers driving rehabilitation programs for disabled drivers.
