We once again are honored to have been invited to participate in the Old Saybrook wreath laying ceremony and parade.

 

We will meet at the wreath laying stage at 0800hrs for the ceremony and Flag Line then proceed as a group to the stage for the Parade at 0930.  Coffee and donuts will be provided. Motorcycles and Flagged vehicles (cages) are welcome.

We are Honored to have been invited by Honor Flight CT to participate in the Escort and Ceremony for Veterans from WW II, Korea and Vietnam who are being taken to Washington DC to visit t

A flagged/PGR identified vehicle escort will start at Windsor Locks High School to bring the Veterans to the Airport for the Pre Departure Ceremony. Stage time is 0630hrs.

 

NOTE: Cages “Flagged Vehicles” on the escort will NOT be able to park at the terminal due to limited space with bikes and buses.  This is per the Airport Authority.

RC Greg Young (860-227-7525) will be RCIC for the Escort STAGE.

 

Morning Airport Stage will include a Flag Line for the arriving Veterans as they prepare for departure. A Pre Departure Ceremony will be held at the SOUTHWEST AIRLINES baggage claim area lower level door #2. Stage time is 0645hrs

 

RC Greg Karal (860-922-5559) will be RCIC for the Airport Stage with flags on site.

 

EVENING RETURN EVENT

 

Evening return Airport Stage will include a Flag Line for the return of the Veterans.  A flagged vehicle escort has been requested from the Airport to the High School if available. Evening Stage is at 2200hrs at SOUTHWEST AIRLINES Arrivals.

Sadly, we have been requested to stand a Flag Line for John Albert Garner, US Army.

 

John was a Special Forces Operator (Green Beret) who served with the 5th, 7th and 10th Special Forces Groups and retired with the rank of Sergeant Major. Additionally, John was a Master Parachutist with over 2,000 jumps. Prior to his selection into Special Forces, John served as a Combat Engineer.

 

He served as Commander of American Legion Post 48 in Chesnee, South Carolina for 3 years, where he, notably, led the restoration of an Army Vietnam-era COBRA AH-1F attack helicopter. He was also a member of the Special Forces Association Chapter 363 (South Carolina).

 

John received the following: National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon w/3 D and AWD, Army Commendation Medal, Master Parachute Badge, Good Conduct Medal w/4th AWD, and Expert M16 Badge Rifle Bar.

 

We will stand a Flag Line for the entrance to the Memorial Service.

We will provide a Flag Line for calling hours (1400-1700) and for Military Honors at 1730hrs at the funeral home.
