RE: Welcome Home***, Francis Atwater, USMC/PGR member

Gregg:

I would like to take this time to sincerely thank all PGR people for what they stand for, and do.

Friday night when my Nephew returned from a long trip from the Marines, He walked in to the airport to see a line of flags and PGR members. He was speechless.

I was proud to be there welcoming home a hero. I know he won’t forget the site. One of my friends said that all service peoples returns should be like that. I agree.

I don’t always get the chance to thank a vet for their service but thankfully, The PGR lets me.

On behalf of my family, please thank everyone who was there.

Bob Mansfield

Thank You Note

Hello Dear Friends,
Gary Roy and I would like to say a quick, but huge thank you to all of you who helped with the Candlelight Ceremony this weekend.  We still need to recover and I am back to work but we hope to catch up more later.

I think everyone who attended walked away feeling that this was such a great way to remember all our special heroes.  It is because of all of you who contributed to make it happen.  We can’t thank you enough.  We hope everyone will spread the word and we grow bigger year by year.  There are many veterans that deserve to be remembered in this way.  There is strength in numbers.

Thank you to all our presenters, those who worked behind the scenes and to those who attended.

Please share our thoughts with others you know who helped but for whom I don’t have email.

Sincerely,
Marianne Mihalyo and Gary Roy

Thank You – Family of Peter J. Mrowka

Hello Gregg,

A heartfelt thank you to you for organizing the Patriot Rider Guard to pay tribute to my dad for his funeral mass and burial on May 31.  My dad, Peter J. Mrowka, spoke of his years in the Air Force with great reverence and pride.  I can’t tell you how surprised and touched we were to pull up to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church that morning to see a wonderful guard of veterans braving the heat and humidity to honor my father.  My mother, husband and I were pleasantly surprised; our family and friends are still talking about how impressive and meaningful that was.  We had no idea that this was going to happen and it took us a few minutes to realize the guard was for my dad.  The tribute at the church and cemetery were just beautiful and truly helped to provide some comfort to us during this difficult time.  My dad’s passing was untimely and unexpected and we’re still trying to make sense of it.  He would have loved having his comrades stand for him that day and I know he’s smiling down on everyone involved.

From the bottom or our hearts, we thank you for your remembering my father, supporting my family and serving our country.

Thanks very much.

With warm regards,
Christa Bernacchia

Your presence at Jim’s funeral was so appreciated and so awesome!
I know Jim was looking down on us all and saying Thank you!

Thank You Note from Family of Jimmy (James P Lee)

On behalf of my brother’s wife and his children and step children, I wish to offer thanks to my fellow PGR who stood the line for Jimmy (James P Lee) yesterday.

Among the family and friends who commented to me, all were especially touched by the presence, your presence, and that of the rest of the guys, left a positive and special memory etched in our hearts. I am very proud to be part of PGR in Tennessee. Jimmy was proud of what we do, and I know he would have enjoyed that escort , flags snapping in the breeze and the roar of a few good bikes. Jimmy loved to sail, and yesterday was a sailor’s wind.

Every family member thanked me for suggesting we invite you to this most private of moments in our lives. My niece Jackie (Jimmy’s oldest) said she was in awe and very impacted by the escort and the line. For it is my opinion that as PGR performs its duties, the family upon seeing those flags , is lost in a wonderful moment of escape from the hurt. Jackie and her brother both experienced that and you are respected by them to no end.

As in many cases, we don’t know the person we stand for.  so let me tell you a bit: Jimmy took on challenges, never gave up, stayed on target and delivered above and beyond expectations. He loved the ocean and sailing. He was happiest at the controls of a sail boat. He loved to cook, and work around the house building a deck onto the back of the house. That deck became visit central and round it, dug out a koi pond and he was always doing things like climbing out the window (during the last giant snow drop), to shovel the snow away from the door and to help the neighbors with their clean up.

Above all that, he was the guy I called when I had to share some good news or bad news.

Stand tall, you guys are appreciated and I know for a fact what it is like to have the line be for me and my family.  Perhaps this experience will help me be a better RCIC. I enjoyed meeting you all and I will stand a line with any of you anytime any place.

Thank You Note from Michael (Mad Mike) Freedman and Kat (Mad Kat)

Gregg,
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you, Bob Stone and all of my PGR CT sisters and brothers that came to support the Sandy Hook FD Chili Cook Off Saturday.
From Bobby Easton and Dimples to Yolanda and Paul Novacelli, Pattie Ptak, Beth Ann and Peter Grieka (who made the banner we presented to SHFD)…..everyone who attended helped in some way. THAT flag line was one to remember for sure.
I still get goose bumps from that ….and the fact that Mac won the auction for the tattoo.
All of your efforts enabled us to donate $7,000 to the SHFD.
YOU should all be very pleased by your efforts.
I sincerely applaud all of you.
It is an honor and a privilege to be a small part of such a wonderful crew and Kat and I thank you all for your friendship.
Sincerely submitted,
Kat (Mad Kat) and Michael (Mad Mike) Freedman

Thank You from the family of Charlie Shlosser

To Gregg and the CT Patriot Guard Riders,

I can’t thank you enough for being at the service of my husband, Charlie Shlosser, at the Veteran’s Memorial in Agawam, MA on December 7, 2012.  He was very proud of his service in the US Army during the Vietnam war.  We had been married 32 years.  He always said his brothers-in-arms stood together, having you there that day proved it to me.  I’m sure he was looking down smiling.

Even though we have had (and still have) many members of our family in the military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard), we hadn’t heard of the Patriot Guard Riders before.  I and my family were extremely impressed with your presence.  The respect you showed will never be forgotten by all who attended!

I have been telling other people about your organization and have posted on facebook about it and added it to my favorites.  More people need to know what your organization is about and how great it is!

A heartfelt thank you from myself and my family.  The courtesy and respect you showed was admirable.  My wish is that your organization continues and grows!

 Sincerely,

Robin O. Shlosser
