Patriot Guard and Associates,

We have again been invited to participate in the 8th Annual Heroes Tree Lighting Event in Old Saybrook, CT. This event pays tribute to deceased, injured and active duty members of our Armed Forces from Connecticut. The “Heroes Tree” is adorned with Gold Stars for the Deceased, Silver Stars for those injured, and Blue Stars for those currently serving the country from Connecticut.

We will stand a Flag Line for the ceremony for the Tree Lighting.

Senior Ride Captain Greg Young will be RCIC and Flags will be on site.

Patriot Guard and Associates,

Sadly we are called to stand in honor of Patrick F. Murphy, SGT, US Marine Corps, who served from 1966 to 1969 with Company B, 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd MarDiv, III Â MAF Marine Barracks Bremerton, WA. He was awarded theÂ Bronze Star Medal with Combat V, the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Presidential Unit Citation with 1 star, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, the Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Unit Citation, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Assistant State Captain Jack Casey will be RCIC and Flags will be on site. We will stand a Flag Line from 1000 to 1200 hrs (10:00 am to 12:00 pm) for calling hours, and provide a Flag Vehicle Escort to the cemetery. Those who can’t make the funeral home stage please stage at the cemetery for the Flag Line there. Be aware of the forecast of rain all day.

Sadly, we are called to Honor Burton C. Johnson, MSG, US Army, who also served in the US Air Force as a SSGT, with the 1001st Air Base Wing, Andrews Air Force Base, Washington, DC and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal with 3 Bronze Loops, Air Force Long Service Award with 1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. He also served in the Army Reserve over a 30 year career.

We have been asked to stand a Flag Line for his interment at 1100 hrs (11:00 am), on Thursday, 17 November 2016 at the CT Veterans Cemetery.

Assistant State Captain Skip Petras will be RCIC and Flags will be on site.

Our website was first published January 2012. Â While assisting one of the Assistant State Captains, it was discovered that he was unaware of a “print” friendly button on each page. Â This button enables all pages to be printed WITHOUT the colorful graphics – thus saving on printer ink. Â Because of this discovery the “print friendly” button has been moved to the upper right side of each page and a little more colorful so it can be seen. Â If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

We will stand a Flag Line during calling hours at the Funeral Home, and provide an escort to the cemetery.

The Connecticut Renaissance Faire’s Heroes Day, Columbus Day, Monday 10 October 2016, North Haven, CT

This is an Attend On Your Own event that I have been asked to spread the word. I don’t know if you are interested in attending this type of event, but they can be fun. Active or retired Military, Police, Fire or Dispatchers are offered free admission with proof of service. Go and enjoy the day. It is located at the North Haven Fairgrounds, 290 Washington Ave., North Haven, CT 06473, from 10:30 am to 6:00 pm.
