We have been asked to support the DVA Ruck Sack Walk/March Event being held in conjunction with the THE PARTNERING GROUP IS IAVA AND TEAM RED WHITE AND BLUE to honor the 65 Connecticut Service members who lost their lives in defense of this Nation since September 11, 2001.

This event will take place on Saturday, 11 March 2017 at 1400 hrs (2:00 pm). We will stand at assigned stations for the walk/march to show our support for the event. We will have Flags on site. State Captain Mac McArthur and ASC Jack Casey will be on site. Any other members who can join us are asked to do so.

We are honored to have been asked to provide an escort for Matthew J. Pearce, Sgt, USMC, who served for 12 years, including 2 tours in Iraq and 1 tour in Afghanistan. He was currently employed with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Department in North Carolina as a Corrections Officer.
We will escort Sgt. Pearce from Bradley Airport to Leetes Stevens Funeral Home in Enfield, CT. Full Flag vehicles will take part, however, this depends on LEO and CSP participation if bikes will be allowed with Full Flags.

They ask that if possible you bring a wheelbarrow, and wear water proof boots as the grounds are quite wet. Attend as long as you are able.

Marty recieved The Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Marine Corps Expert Rifle Badge.
Funeral services will be held Friday January 13, 2017 at the Cromwell Funeral Home 506 Main St, Cromwell, CT at 10am followed by an 11am church service at Bethany Lutheran Church, 50 Court St Cromwell. Military Honors will be rendered at the church following services.
We will stand a Flag Line at the Funeral Home and the Church. A Flagged Escort has been requested from the Funeral Home to the church weather permitting. 
ASC Jack Casey will be RCIC and have flags on site. Members are asked to report to the Funeral Home at 9am.
