YLITALO, RONALD E., 70, of Freedom Way, Coventry, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at the Riverview Healthcare facility. Born in Hancock, Michigan, he was a son of the late Francis and Laila (Kanniainen) Ylitalo.

Ron was employed as a heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #324 for many years before retiring. He was a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War. For over 10 years, Ron was proud to serve in the Patriot Guard Riders.

He was a true outdoorsman; he loved to hunt and fish. Ron was a member and an officer at the North Bull Moose Lodge #9511 in Michigan.

Ronald is survived by a sister, Joanne Lemmon of Romulus, Michigan as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Norman, Donald and Jackie Ylitalo.

A Committal Service with Military Honors will be Monday, February 17, 2020 at 11:30 am at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail in Exeter. Relatives and friends may assemble at 11:15 am by the administrative buildings at the main entrance of the Cemetery.  Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted, memorial donations to the National Patriot Guard Riders (www.patriotguard.org )would be appreciated.

We have been invited by Major General Francis J Evon Jr, Adjutant General to participate in the Freedom Salute Ceremony for CT Air National Guard Units returning from deployment abroad.
We will Stage at the Spare Time Bowling Parking Area and proceed to the Base as a Unit.
We will Stand a Flag Line for the Ceremony.
SC Greg Barratt will be RCIC with Flags on site.
Members attending must provide their Full Name, DOB and Drivers License Number/State to Skip by 6pm tonite  12/31/2019 in order to gain access to the Base.  Access will be denied for anyone not on the approved list.  Members with valid Military/Dependant ID’s do not need to provide information to me.
Members are reminded that Personal Weapons are not Permitted on State Property and your vehicle is subject to search by Base Security Forces when accessing the base.

We are Honored to have been invited to participate in Wreaths Across America Escorts in Enfield and Cromwell/Middletown.
The following is for the Enfield Escort.  This event is Weather Dependant.
Wednesday 12/11/2019  0730am Stage

Flagged Vehicles will join the convoy as directed by the Enfield Police Department.  We will Escort the Wreaths Across America Convoy to the Parkman Elementary School. A Ceremony will be held at Parkman. Members are invited to attend the ceremony if they choose.
ASC Skip Petras will be RCIC.
THIS EVENT IS WEATHER DEPENDANT.

Stop & Shop Supermarket

Flagged Vehicles will stage at Stop & Shop and Escort the Trucks with Wreaths from Cromwell to Middletown. Local Law Enforcement, Fire Services and other agencies will be involved.
Law Enforcement will have the final decision as to the progress of the convoy.
Assistance will be needed to assist in the unloading of the trucks at the Eversource Facility following the convoy.
ASC Skip Petras will be RCIC.

**SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS**
Members will be entering an Active Military Base and must follow the following instructions for Security Purposes;
NO Personal Weapons to include pocket knives are permitted on the base to include stored on or in your vehicle. Vehicles are subject to search prior to entry. 
All Members are to have Photo ID and present same to gain access to the base.
Staging will be at the bowling alley parking area and the group will travel to the base together.

ABOUT THE MISSION:

Patriot Guard Riders,

Once again, we are honored to be asked for a flag line at the RI Veterans Cemetery on Saturday, May 18th as brass players from across the state join together to honor all our fallen heroes.

We all have come to know Armed Forces Day as the annual Echo Taps Ceremony. Brass players perform an echoing cascade of Taps in recognition of the sacrifice our heroes have made for our country.
