An Unexpected Flagline prior to Corporal Hayes interment

(At the intermittent part of the mission for Corporal Breanna Joy Hayes, USMC, October 18, 2010, the Connecticut Patriot Guard was at the cemetary priot to the funeral party to arrive. While we were there, awaiting their arrival, another interment was occurring. This was for Harold Brookman, a Korean War Veteran – was not an official Patriot Guard Mission. While we were awaiting for the funeral party for Corporal Hayes to arrive, we stood to honor Korean War Veteran Harold Brookman. We were honored to stand in honor for him as well.

Jack, the Brookman family wanted me to tell you that their father and grandfather, Harold Brookman, would have been thrilled to see the flag line. They were all very moved.

Hi Bob,

Well done yesterday at the Chili Cook Off in Manchester, the Ct PGRcontinues to amaze me. You have a great group of committed people. Youdidmake a difference yesterday. A woman from Arkansas came up to me, andstarted telling me about her husband a Vietnam Vet who after all theseyears is dealing with P.T.S.D. he had just joined the PGR back home inArkansas. He and his wife were both in the chili competition. I had theopportunity to meet him before the Flag line. Afterwards she told me itbrought tears to their eyes to see such a display of Patriotism.

Well done my friend,

Joe(SAM) Crinieri USMRI / NH-PGR

Thank you to all the PGR and other Riders, Men & Women, Veterans & Civilians who came to Bradley to Welcome Home Our Veterans from Trip #6 to Washington, DC. The Veterans will be talking about you all for years to come. I am always Ass End Charlie following up the Rear making sure All the Veterans are in front of me, picking up stragglers, checking the bathrooms etc so I never see what you see as they approach you all. I can hear the cheers and hollering and I know what is going on. My job is to say thank you to all as I pass them whether they are Bradley employees, TSA, State Police, janitors, travelers who are applauding my Heroes. If I miss anyone it is not because I do not care but after a day of manuvering four busses and 200 Veterans and Staff from one Memorial to another, making sure they are safe, fed, cared for, performing miracles, keeping to schedule and trying to Make it the Best Day of Their Lives I was exhausted by the time we got to Bradley and I missed some whom I should have acknowledged. I am so sorry, Please forgive me. I TRIED MY BEST. Jack

My wife and I want to thank the CT brothers and sisters for allowing us to stand the flag line with you to honor these American Hero’s. What great pride these veterans have for our country, and each one we spoke with wanted us to extend a heartfelt “THANK YOU” to the 62+ guard members that stood the line! Special thanks to Beth, Jack Casey and RC Bill the CT guard we had the pleasure to meet. My dad never got to see his memorial but was very excited that is was going to be built. Tonight, I saw a little of my dad in each of those men. Thanks folks, it was truely my honor!

I want to thank everyone who was at the Welcome Home last night for the WWII Veterans. It is just one more thing they can talk to everyone about. At each turn, there was another suprise for them and their smiles just got bigger and bigger! You made their day complete by welcoming them home. Thank you

A Good day for the Connecticut Patriot Guard at Doc’s Super Motorcycle Store 9/19/2010

Dimples (JoAnn Fuller), Kiwi (Mrs. Eble), Santa(Bruce Eble), Kris Eble set up the tent and the store this morning. Patti Ptak got there a little later. Lots of people stopped by and bought a good amount and handed out lots of flyers. Connecticut Patriot Guard may need to reorder some shirts again. Quite a few members stopped by and Guy Pascarella. stayed to help us break down. Kris won a trophy for his bike. Santa accepted the donation check from Doc. Bob Airwolf Stone was there for a while, but couldn’t stay and asked Bruce to accept the check, $500. The check is from Waterville Business & Property Owners Assoc. LLC WBA-VETS. The check will be mailed to Marcia Young in the am. It was a busy day and a good day for the Connecticut Patriot Guard at Doc’s Super Motorcycle Store.

Bob,

On behalf of my entire family, I am writing to express our sincerest appreciation to the Patriot Guard Riders for their participation in the services for my father, Gerald Hecker on September 1. It was a hot day, and the Guard had a very busy week.

As a member of PGR, I understand why we do what we do. Last week, I got a glimpse at the feeling it brings to families of those who have passed. It was an honor to have the PGR present to honor my father. I was filled with pride and appreciation that so many came to pay their respects to someone that none knew.

On Monday, August 29, I rode to the mission for SGT DeLuzio because I believed that, in a time of grief, I could find comfort in providing comfort to others who were dealing with their loss. It was an honor to stand with the PGR that day, just as it was an honor to have the PGR stand for my father.

Many of my family and friends commented at the commitment and dedication of those who stood in the hot sun, as we paid final tribute to a great man, a great father, a great friend, a patriot. Many don’t always understand the sacrifices that our service men and women made, and continue to make. They all left Jordan Cemetary that day with a better understanding by the example set by my Brothers and Sisters of the Patriot Guard.

Please extend my heartfelt appreciation to all who attended, and to those who extended their well-wishes and prayers to my family during this difficult time.

Rob Hecker”

Thank You and Your Fine Organization for Your Generous Contributi

Dear Bob,

Every so often, one’s opinion of the State of the Nation is bolstered by the kind and unselfish act of another human being. Such is the situation wherein the Patriot Guard Riders have seen fit to give of their time and treasure to assist another organization complete their mission.

This Post recently installed a 25 foot flagpole on the site of the Old Colonial Burial Grounds on Derby Avenue in Derby. This pole is to honor those Veterans of Past Wars that are entombed within those hallowed grounds and whose graves are unmarked as time and weather have taken its toll.

Although our membership is small in number (less than 50) this Post took on the project with limited funds. We didn’t seek financial assistance, but we would not turn it away should there be a benefactor(s).

To this date, only one organization rose to the occasion, the Patriot Guard Riders of Connecticut.

Therefore, on behalf of the Officers and members of this Post, we thank you and your fine organization for your generous contribution.

Yours in Service,

(Joseph Vicdomino)
