We have beens asked to pass along the following info on an Attend on Your Own Motorcade event happening on Friday Sept 11, 2020. 
This motorcade is to Back and Support all the First Responders And will also be to Honor those who lost their lives on Sept. 11th.  

We will begin staging at Pilgrim Furniture and Mattress City 55 Graham Place Southington CT 06489 staging at 5:30pm and will end in Wolcott at the Woodtick Recreation Center 201 Nichols Rd Wolcott CT 06716. The motorcade will be a little over 1 hr. Covering Southington, Cheshire, and Wolcott.   

Flagged Vehicles are invited to participate.  This will be an escorted event.

DVA Request Volunteers for Stand Down Event

We have received the following request from The CT DVA looking for Volunteers for this years Stand Down Event for Veterans in CT.  
If you are interested in Volunteering, Please contact Tammy directly.  Her contact info is at the bottom of the letter.   

 

We are looking to see if there are any of your members who would want to volunteer this year for Stand Down.  It’s a 2 day event, the first day, 9/24 is all virtual with virtual informational sessions and the second day, 9/25 will be held at 4 locations for distribution of personal needs items, Covid testing and flu shots.
We need 12-14 volunteers at the following locations on 9/25 to assist with traffic, Covid protocol adherence and item distribution:

A Friend of Marcia and Greg Young has an Uncle who is a resident at The Jefferson House in Newington. William P Laura is a WW II US Navy Veteran as well as a US Air Force Veteran.  With all that is going on in the world, this Veteran is feeling a bit down, and may need a bit of a pick me up.

We have been requested to Stand a Flag Line for the Opening Ceremonies and during the Presentation of Colors.
Jennifer Houser will be in Charge with Flags on Site.
Members may have dinner if they choose.   Veterans will eat for no charge, for Family Members of Veterans there will be a $10.00 charge and all other guests there will be a $15.00 charge. A dinner of Turkey and all the fixings will be served.

We are Honored to have been invited by Major General Francis J Evon Jr, Ct Adjutant General, to participate in a Welcome Home and Send Off Ceremony for several CT Army National Guard Units. 
We will Stand a Flag Line for the Ceremony. 
RC(IT) Rob Migliore will be RCIC with Flags on site.  
Any changes will be forwarded via email and our social media pages due to the pending weather. 
It is recommended that members arrive early as parking will be tight as always. 
Members are reminded that Personal Weapons are not Permitted on State Property.

We are Honored to have been invited by the New London Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee to participate in their Military Appreciation Day Event. 
We will Stand a Flag Line for Dignitary Arrival at approx 2:30pm and also for the US Coast Guard SWAB Run entrance into the park at  Approx 3:00pm.  A program and Medal Ceremony will follow the arrival of the USCG from approx 3:00pm to 4:00pm. 
We will also have an information table to provide information about the PGR. Members can spend as much time at the table as they would like to. 
RC Steve Marcolini will be RCIC with flags and the table set up. Members should plan on bringing their own chair(s).

We have received an invitation for members to attend at the State Capitol in Hartford.
The World Memorial Project will be opening a 28 x 60 foot  50lb American Flag on the Lawn of the State Capitol as part of the 5 year mission to bring this flag to all 50 State Capitols and multiple Monuments. The mission of the flag started its tour on the 15th Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks. 
Currently the Flag is returning from Normandy France where it was opened on Omaha Beach in Honor of the 75th Anniversary of D Day. 
The Mission Statement from World Memorial Project for the flag is “To Honor those who gave their lives for the Red White and Blue and Respect the Men and Women on the job today willing to risk it all to Preserve our Freedom and keep us Safe”. 
This is a Public Event and should take no more than 20-30 mins to accomplish.

The flag will then travel to the State Capitol on Providence RI for a 2pm display.

We are Honored to have been invited to Stand a Flag Line at the National Iwo Jima Memorial for the arrival of participants of the 10th Annual Iwo Jima Survivors/Gold Star Families Ride and during Ceremonies at the Memorial. 
Participants are expected to arrive at the Memorial at approx 11:15-11:30.
Members have been  invited to go to the New Britain VFW for a luncheon following the ceremony. 
We will Stand a Flag Line for the riders arrival and for the Ceremony.
